WHY BARCELONA FAILED IN NEYMAR BID

Neymar has been linked with a return to Barcelona since he left the Spanish La Liga giants for current club Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in 2017 and he could have re-signed for the Catalan giants in 2019 if they met the financial terms proposed for the player by PSG. Both Barcelona and Neymar had been keen on a reunion two years after he left the club controversially but the Spaniards were not able to meet up with the transfer fee demanded by the French champions as pointed out by Javier Bordas,the former Barcelona Vice President.


Javier Bordas was part of the Josep Maria Bartomeu-led board that resigned at the start of this season. He told Diario Sport that Barcelona were just €20m away from re-signing Neymar. According to him, PSG asked for €130m plus Jean-Clair Todibo, OusmaneDembele and Ivan Rakitic but Barcelona were only able to offer €110m plus the trio of OusmaneDembele, Jean-Clair Todibo and Ivan Rakitic. NEYMAR REACTS TO BEING EXCLUDED FROM FIFA AWARDS NOMINEES LIST

 

On Friday saw FIFA announce the final contenders for the FIFA The Best Men’s Player gong. Before the announcement, it was always certain that Bayern Munich’s Polish striker Robert Lewandowski was going to be featuring in the list.


The Poland international striker had the best season of his career last year, winning a treble of the UEFA Champions League, the German Bundesliga, as well as the League Cup, amongst others. An interesting statistic is that he was the top scorer in all of those competitions he emerged winner in.

WILL NEYMAR SURPASS PELE’S LEGENDARY STATUS?

 

Most football fans will say aside Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr. is the next best footballer star. Many have berated the Brazilian for all sorts; not focused, not as disciplined, playing to the gallery, fitness issues, money-hungry etc. But the numbers don’t lie. Neymar’s game to goal ratio is always relatively wild. His impact for the Selecao and his club teams are always massive. He is attack minded, plays beautiful football and gets the job done.


Pele is an idol in football, but the current generation do not romanticize the past as much as the former generation. Neymar has had a huge influence in pop culture and his legendary status is growing. Against Peru, Brazil showed their dominance, with Neymar in charge. The Paris St-Germain star grabbed a hat trick in the 4-2 win, pushing them to the top spot in the South American log for World Cup spots in 2022.

Barca Free Of Infringements On Neymar’s Transfer From Santos

 

Barcelona has been cleared off the charges regarding Neymar’s transfer from Santos. In 2013, he left the Brazilian side to join the club and since then there have been controversies regarding the transfer money. He was signed from Santos for €17 million but the speculations suggested that they have paid €83 million as the club has made payments with his private company and directly to his father as well as.

Santos has filed a complaint against Barca at Court of Arbitration for Sports claiming that the Catalan club owed them €61 million as compensation amount. But the court has dismissed that they didn’t commit anything illegal when they approached the club.

Neymar Back with PSG Ahead of Ligue 1 Return

 

Neymar is back from Brazil as PSG is looking forward to starting the training on June 22. After the suspension of football activity, he went to his homeland where he stayed for the last three months. Even though Ligue 1 has been cancelled off, PSG still has to prepare for Champions League and they also have two finals left to play. They were crowned as the champions in the league after the season was called off. The French club qualified to the quarter-finals by winning against Borussia Dortmund for 3–2 on aggregate.


Neymar returned to Brazil four days after the match as France issued lock down procedure on the country. PSG wanted him to return before June 15 to avoid two weeks of quarantine.

Ander Herrera insists Neymar is happy at Paris Saint-Germain

 

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ander Herrera has said that Neymar is content at Parc des Princes despite the speculation regarding his future. The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona this summer but Herrera believes the attacker has no plans of leaving Parc des Princes.


Speaking to a French outlet, he told: “Mbappe and Neymar are still at PSG and even more so with the situation that we are currently in. I had dinner with Neymar before the quarantine and he is very involved with the project. He told me that he has never been so happy in Paris. PSG’s project is such that both feel fulfilled in Paris.”
