Ander Herrera insists Neymar is happy at Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ander Herrera has said that Neymar is content at Parc des Princes despite the speculation regarding his future. The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona this summer but Herrera believes the attacker has no plans of leaving Parc des Princes.

Speaking to a French outlet, he told: “Mbappe and Neymar are still at PSG and even more so with the situation that we are currently in. I had dinner with Neymar before the quarantine and he is very involved with the project. He told me that he has never been so happy in Paris. PSG’s project is such that both feel fulfilled in Paris.”

Neymar has been with the French champions since the summer of 2017 when he made the world-record move from Barcelona. Due to untimely injuries, he has made only 80 appearances across all competitions for the club but he has nonetheless made an impact with 69 goals and 39 assists for the Capital outfit.

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe has been another player, who has been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid but it appears that any deal could be delayed until next summer due to the financial impact of the coronavirus. Les Parisiens are unlikely to sanction the sale of the Frenchman on the cheap and as things stand, Los Blancos are not in a position to pay more than £150m for the former AS Monaco graduate.

The Ligue 1 season was recently concluded due to the coronavirus pandemic and Les Parisiens were named as the champions. While the league campaign has concluded, the Champions League games are expected to resume by August and Les Parisiens will be hoping to make a strong push for the European crown. The French government has banned any sporting events until September but the club’s hierarchy are aiming to play the knockout games from a neutral overseas venue.
