Duncan Castles insists Neymar cannot reach the Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi level

Times journalist Duncan Castles does not believe Neymar has the credentials to reach the heights of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The Brazil international made the shock move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 to become the main man in the attack but that has not managed to build his reputation among the footballing fraternity.

Speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said that Neymar does not have the desire that a Ronaldo or Messi would possess after he took up the challenge at Parc des Princes. He added that the Brazilian has been influenced by the people around him rather than him making the decisions in his footballing career.

Paris Saint-Germain confirm long-term injury absence for Neymar

French giants Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Neymar would be sidelined for at least 10 weeks after suffering another metatarsal fracture. The Brazil international suffered a similar injury last term which ended his campaign, but Les Parisiens are confident that he would return before the season close this time around.

“After consultation with world-renowned medical experts, the decision has been made for Neymar to receive treatment for his latest metatarsal injury. The player has agreed to undergo such procedures and is now expected to be fit again in ten weeks. Paris Saint-Germain wishes to show Neymar the strongest support to overcome this injury, with the courage and determination he has always shown.” the club explained in an official statement.

Tuchel confirms Neymar has suffered fresh groin injury

Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Neymar has suffered a fresh groin problem which should sideline him for the midweek league game against Strasbourg. The Brazil international managed to find the scoresheet during the weekend clash versus Bordeaux on the road but he was substituted earlier in the second period after picking up the injury.

Speaking after the game, Tuchel highlighted that he does not know the extent of the injury but he remains optimistic that the Brazilian can return to action by next weekend, he told L’Equipe: “I do not know at all [what he has], I think [it’s the same injury as before Liverpool]. We must be careful. He said that it was not a problem to play but the ground was hard. We made the decision with everyone, Neymar, the physio, that he did not take any risk to play. He felt good but by the time he felt something he came out on time. NEYMAR TO FEATURE AGAINST RED STAR

Brazilian forward Neymar Jr. is set to feature in crucial clash against Red Star Belgrade, as per reports. The coach Thomas Tuchel earlier said if the training session on Monday goes well then the former Barcelona man would play on Tuesday night.

The star player is expected to lead the onslaught as the French side seeks to guarantee their spot in the knockout phase of the Champions League. Affairs in Group C remains tight and would get complicated if Liverpool, currently third in the group, defeat table leaders Napoli by up to two goals.
