ROBINHO – I REJECTED BARCELONA FOR REAL MADRID

Former Real Madrid forward Robinho has revealed that he had the chance to move to the Nou Camp but he rejected the move to play at the Santiago Bernebau.

The player claimed it was a tough decision for him to reject Barcelona then as he preferred Los Merengues over Los Blancos clearly.

“It may seem like a difficult choice, but it wasn’t. Real Madrid was the team that showed more interest in me. Both of them are great clubs that have fans all around the word, but when Madrid came in for me, I saw they had a large Brazilian group in their squad and the coaching staff was also from Brazil. When you put all this together, why would I move to Barcelona,” Robinho said.

Robinho went on to be a remarkable force at the Spanish club though he never matched the levels of his compatriot Ronaldinho at Barcelona. Read More

ROBINHO – I WOULD HAVE JOINED CHELSEA

Former Manchester City forward Robinho has revealed that he would joined Premier League giants Chelsea FC if not that the Blues were already selling shirts with his name before the deal with his then club Real Madrid was announced.

The Brazilian was set to move to Stamford Bridge before Man City, backed by Arab money, swooped in to sign the player for a record £32.5 million.

Then Chelsea manager Luis Felipe Scolari, also called Big Phil, was fuming at the actions of the Spanish side as they sold the player to the then new kids on the block.

“My goal was to move to Chelsea – Big Phil said I could make the difference for him as his squad, according to him, was not creative enough. But Real Madrid has fallen out with Chelsea – they didn’t like them selling shirts with my name on before the deal had been done.

“I’m pretty sure that this error was one of the main reasons why the transfer failed, as it was a matter of pride for Real Madrid,” Robinho revealed. Read More

After failing in Europe, Robinho is standing out in Brazil

Robinho’s story as a football player is one that many consider to be one that disappointed as the Brazilian attacker was once hailed as the next Pele but despite performing in some of the best clubs in the world alongside world class players, it still wasn’t enough for Robinho to make consistent performances in Europe as he failed with: Real Madrid, Manchester City and Ac.Milan.

The initial years of Robinho’s career started off in a brilliant way and it seemed like he was destined for greatness as the Brazilian player wore the number 10 jersey, the same one as Pele and at the age of 20, he had already guided Santos to 2 CampeonatoBrasileiroSerie A titles.

Things started to fall apart forRobinho ever since he opted to make a switch to the European League. The Brazilian player started setting his sights to bigger clubs and he eventually went on to join Real Madrid, which was his first top European club that Robinho joined and it wasn’t a complete disaster for him in Real Madrid as he did manage to make a few memorable performances but his problem was his consistency as there were some matches where he stood out but in other instances he was invisible.

When Madrid signed C.Ronaldo in 2009, that marked the end of Robinho in the Spanish club and he later went on to join Manchester City and Ac.Milan but never really managed to find his place.
